Administrators Irma Posted March 31, 2021 Administrators Share Posted March 31, 2021 Sadly we retire #89040 for Jim McBain. Our deepest sympathies to his family and friends. https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/guelphmercury/obituary.aspx?n=james-mcbain&pid=198193926 In loving memory of James (Jim) McBain who passed away suddenly at his Florida residence November 18, 2020. Predeceased by his wife Lucille of 55 years (née Barbeau in 2010) survived by his loving daughter Deborah Carr (Wayne) and sons Ronald and Terrence (predeceased 1991). Predeceased by his partner and best friend Valerie Koster, survived by his step-daughters Trina Koster (Scott), Tania, "Cookie" his four legged darling, in-laws Charlotte Johnson and Sandy Olsenberg. Jim was proudly employed with the Sudbury Fire Department and retired as Platoon Chief in 1994. He worked with Fisher/Wavy as a driver until his move to Guelph, Ontario in 2008. Jim's greatest passion was riding his motorbike. He spent most days exploring the roads on his beloved Honda Goldwing where he developed many lasting friendships along the way. At the age of 86, Jim exercised regularly at the Y so he could continue to ride. Jim was a Road Captain of the Sudbury Cruisers Riding Club Chapter 418, and a trusted member of CMC 089 Guelph/CMC001 Cambridge and ROMEO club. He will be sadly missed by many riding partners especially his close friends Ted and Bob. Jim had a good sense of humour and along with Valerie they were a big part of the Riverbend community in Guelph. He shared many good times with his close friends Claudette, Marsha and Rudy, Ted and Denise, Mariette and Wayne, John and Ola, Barb, Linda Myers, Audrey and Mary, Glenda and Bill, Roberta and Rick, and Sharon and Mary Eileen. We will miss his laugh and quick comments and how he would say "I feel wonderful, and if I didn't nobody wants to hear it anyway". May you rest in peace Jim, know that you were loved. A private celebration will be held on Sunday May 2 for Jim in Guelph.
