Copied from 1st Officer Den.. Darcy passed away while riding his motorcycle yesterday (May 16th) in St Thomas. An oncoming vehicle crossed over the line into his lane. He was the nicest man ever. Not only was he a chapter member but he was also making facemasks to help protect those in the community. Stopped by his house on Friday to pick up buttons he had for our group to make caps. We had a distanced conversation and he wanted to make t shirts for our Face Mask Facebook Group to remember the pandemic by. He was a great person and a great friend. Condolences to his wife Sheila and their family members. Ride on "CHILL." It is with heavy hearts that we have to announce that Darcy Eugene Krauza was tragically taken away from us after a motor vehicle accident on May 16th, 2020. Predeceased by his loving mother Ruth Tobea Krauza. Survived by his loving father Gus Krauza, his sisters Darlene Lee (Darrel), Linda Nadeau (Charles), Karen Mackay (Kevin), Julie Crowell (David) and Brenda Patchell (Bruce), and his many nieces and nephews. He was the eternal soulmate of Shelia Krauza, adoring father of Marianne Jefferson (Nathan) and Christopher Krauza (Tracey). He was an amazing grandfather to Elijah Jefferson (his little buddy, and apple of his eye). Beloved son-in-law to Joann Reichwald. Best friend of Thomas Taylor (Pat) (his supervisor on the job). A great friend and partner-in-crime to Deb Coon. He was like a father to many of his children’s friends and loved them all like his own. In his final moments he was a guardian angel to Riley Elliot whom he loved like a niece. Darcy was avid motorcycle enthusiast for 40+ years, he was a member of the Lake Huron Steel Horse Riders as well as the Canadian Motorcycle Cruisers Chapter 016. He was also a retired member of the Millwright Union Local 1592, as well as a jack-of-all-trades (except plumbing). He was a volunteer little league baseball coach who always took his team for ice cream as long as everyone had fun. He was also a volunteer firefighter for many years in Courtright and he was an avid animal lover, always rescuing animals - from deer and bunnies, to cats and dogs. Darcy was always the life of the party, with his larger than life personality he electrified the room when he walked in. You could always find him in the crowd with his booming and contagious laugh. He spent his retirement with his best friend Thomas and his son-in-law Nathan doing renovations and various projects around the house. During his down time, he was making and donating face masks to the community during this Covid 19 pandemic. He touched countless lives all across Canada and the US. He had no strangers just a friend he had yet to meet. He had a heart of gold that was bigger than himself, he would always help those in need. The world is a little darker without him in it, he was truly a great man. Cremation has taken place. In true Darcy fashion, there will be a memorial ride set up by Chris Krauza once this Covid 19 pandemic is over, followed by a celebration of life in Courtright. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
